Hi, my name is Sara Buckley! I am currently a freshman at URI and majoring in Elementary Education. I am from North Haven, Connecticut. I have been dancing since the age of five and was an assistant dance teacher in high school. In high school, I was very involved in my school's choral department where I was in the large concert choir and a female a capella group. I volunteered reading books to children at my local library, worked as a soup kitchen volunteer, and am a camp counselor during the summer. I also was an active member of National Honor Society and Music Honor Society. Here at URI, I am a member of the Dance Company, the American Sign Language Club, and the sorority, Phi Sigma Sigma.

My name is Meagan, I grew up in a small town in western Massachusetts called Southwick. I went to 12 years of public schooling in the Southwick School system. I have an older brother who goes to Penn state and a younger sister who is in 5th grade. My entire life I have loved to play sports, my favorite being soccer I played it all 4 years of high school. I also love to go snowboarding and skiing in the winter and I love horse back riding. I chose URI because I love the ocean and wanted to get far away from home, it is about a two hour drive from my house. I am an undecided major but I am very interested in studying nutrition.

My name is Melanie Mertens and I am from South Kingstown, Rhode Island. I have lived in my current home since I was three, so I have resided near the University of Rhode Island nearly my entire life. Although this is true, I had never actually been on campus until I attended an open house here when I was looking at colleges. My favorite is The Little Mermaid, because I love singing along to all the music in it! One of my biggest fears coming into college was actually that my roommates would not like Disney movies, but thankfully they love them too (I mean not as much as me obviously, but still)! So that's me, a Girl Scout, gymnast, babysitting, Disney fanatic! Try not to confuse me with anyone else!

The system provided for me well until middle school where things became rough. I stuck it out at Barrington schools until my sophomore year of high school when I left for St. Andrew's School, which is also located in Barrington. This is where I fell in love with learning and have dreams of teaching at after I have graduated from URI.
